Physiology for ALL - enrolment for our online course now open

The Society’s Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) in Physiology, developed together with the University of Liverpool, is now open for enrolment.

Physiology: The Science of Life ran for the first time in September 2017 and again in April 2018. Over 11,000 learners have enrolled from 140 different countries and there has been excellent engagement with discussion boards.

***We are currently looking for moderators that are keen to share their knowledge and passion for physiology by engaging with the discussion boards. If you are a Member of The Society and are willing to spend some time responding to questions raised by learners, please contact edufunding@physoc.org. You may like to moderate any one, or all of the modules, but however you choose to engage will be adding to the learner experience and be supporting the physiology community.***

The third run of the MOOC will begin on Monday 8 April.

The content provides a free, online learning opportunity aimed at easing the transition for 16-19 year olds looking to study a life science or medical degree at University.  The course has also proven popular with undergraduates and those working in the allied health professions.

Over 3 weeks, physiologists introduce the cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous system; with opportunities for self-directed learning including data gathering, analysis and moderated peer discussion– approaches that are common to undergraduate study. There is also information about careers in and resulting from physiology, including case studies from students studying it at undergraduate and post graduate levels.

The video clip below provides a glimpse at the type of content that will be covered – providing both educational resource and career information.
