Communication prizes

We support a number of prizes at Society events for Affiliate Members of The Society. These include:

  • The Physiological Society Poster Competition
  • The Physiological Society Oral Communication Competition
  • Pfizer Prize

Poster Competition

The Physiological Society Poster Competition operates at all Society Meetings and is awarded for the best poster communication by an Affiliate Member.The competition is a great way to get yourself noticed early in your career. 

There are two prizes, winner and runner-up. Posters are judged on the calibre and clarity of scientific data, the communication of content and on the ability of the presenter to answer questions concerning the research and findings. The candidate must show that they have conducted a significant part of the work being presented.

There are two prizes, £150 for the winner and £75 for the runner-up.

Oral Communication Competition

The Physiological Society Oral Competition operates at Themed Meetings only and is awarded for the best oral communication by an Affiliate Member. Prizes are given for recognition for the clarity of your presentation as well as the strength of your research

Presentations are judged on the communication of content and on the ability of the presenter to answer questions concerning the research and findings. The candidate must show that they have conducted a significant part of the work being presented. Full details can be found via the link  below.

Pfizer Prize

The Pfizer Prize operates at The Society's main meeting,Physiology and is awarded for the best oral communication presentation by an Affiliate Member. In the same way that the oral communication prize is awarded at The Society's Themed meetings, this prize recognises excellence in research presentation. 

There are up to six awards of £250.

Following submission of their abstract, entrants should complete the application form, which should include a supporting statement from their supervisor.

At the meeting, the review panel will take account of the quality of the abstracts, presentations and discussions.
