Engage with the public on physiology – new grant announced
The Society has a total of £5000 available to sponsor public engagement projects run by Members and non-members. Applications are invited now and funding decisions will be made in April 2012. If this pilot is successful, more funding will be made available for a second round of applications in October.
We hope the projects funded through this scheme will help meet The Society’s aims of highlighting the contribution of physiology to medicine and society, and increasing recognition of its relevance to public audiences. We aim to engage with these public audiences in a dialogue that benefits both the audience and physiologists. We also want to inspire younger audiences to develop their interests in physiology and related sciences
Projects we have supported within public engagement this year include Bright Club and I’m A Scientist, Get Me Out of Here. These projects will allow our Members to be involved in "gold standard" public engagement and we hope that the projects funded through the Public Engagement grants scheme will also enable this.
The deadline for applications to the pilot scheme is 29 February 2012. Funding decisions will be announced in April 2012. For further information and to apply for a Public Engagement grant, click here.
