New biology undergraduate research bursaries available
This year, in addition to our own Vacation Studentship Scheme, the Society is pleased to announce that it is supporting the Biology Undergraduate Research Bursaries Programme.
The grants, which cover living costs, offer 60 undergraduates the chance to carry out a research placement during their summer vacation. By experiencing life in a research lab, students can gain a taste for a career in science and boost their CV. Students can claim up to £180 a week for a six to eight week project. Academics at any stage can act as project supervisors, with post-doc and new lecturer supervisors particularly encouraged.
The programme is run by the Society of Biology, in conjunction with the British Ecological Society, British Pharmacological Society, Genetics Society, Society for Endocrinology, Society for Reproduction and Fertility, and The Physiological Society. It is also supported by the Nuffield Foundation.
The Society's support of this programme, in addition to increased funding of our own vacation studentships, illustrates our continuing commitment to the future of physiological research in the UK.
