Public Engagement
The Physiological Society engages with the public through schools outreach, public events and lectures, exhibitions and activities that seek to develop a dialogue between The Society and public audiences . These audiences include secondary school students, teachers and science festival-attendees, and we are continually looking for ways to engage with new audiences. We aim to foster communities that have an awareness, understanding and appreciation of physiology and science in general.
Our public engagement activities are also a valuable means for us to learn of the scientific issues that matter to the public, and understand why physiology is important to a wider audience. Through this we can make physiology relevant to them and strengthen positive attitudes about science. We also aim to inspire the next generation of physiologists.
The Society strongly supports our members taking part in these activities. Funding is available through our Outreach Grants and our new Public Engagement Grants scheme, which is also available to non-members.
