The key personnel and committees involved in the running of The Society can be found in this section.

In addition to our Executive Committee and Council, we also have six committees who oversee the activities of The Society. Their remits are outlined briefly below.

Education and Outreach Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for the understanding, learning and teaching of physiology throughout the education system and to the wider public.

Policy Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for The Society’s policy-related activities and to sustain and enhance the environment for physiology in the UK

Meetings Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for developing and overseeing the strategic planning and funding of The Society and non-Society scientific meetings and workshops at home and abroad, and to recognise and promote excellence in physiology through scientific meetings.

Finance Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for overseeing all financial aspects of The Society so as to support its short and long term ability to achieve its charitable objects and report back to Council accordingly.

History and Archives Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for managing and promoting The Society’s historical collections (papers, images and apparatus) in collaboration with appropriate professional repositories.

Membership and Grants Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for the oversight and leadership of The Society’s strategy on membership and disbursement of grants.

Publications Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for maximising the value of publication activities to The Society and to the wider physiological community.

Remuneration Committee

Delegated responsibility on behalf of the Council of Trustees for overseeing staff remuneration and issues relevant to remuneration policies and practices including those in senior management.
