Young Physiologists' Symposia
These 1–2 day events attract young physiologists from across the world and provide an excellent setting to present and discuss the latest scientific research. To complement the scientific programme, a reception and dinner are also organised.
The next YPS is in Edinburgh, more information can be found on the symposium website. Information on subsequent YPS can be found on our meetings page.
Organise a YPS
Each year, we offer PhD students and recently qualified postdoctoral workers the opportunity to organise a YPS. Meetings can either be in conjunction with a Society Meeting or as a stand-alone symposium. The Society provides sponsorship for the event; however, the scientific content, format and social events are in the hands of the early-career physiologist organisers.
There are many advantages to organising a YPS, including being able to:
- Promote the latest scientific research in a research area, chosen by you
- Extend your scientific network by building up new contacts and collaborations
- Develop skills to strengthen your CV and increase your employability
- Gain experience of conference organisation, important for an academic career
Organising a YPS can be hard work, but it is also a fun and rewarding experince, here is some insight into what’s involved in running a YPS.
