We are looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and self-motivated scientist to join the laboratory of Professor Nikita Gamper on a 5 years Wellcome Trust funded project. In this project we aim to build upon our recent findings on the regulation of pain transmission in the peripheral somatosensory ganglia, and on the neuronal crosstalk and asynaptic transmission in the ganglia. The project is multidisciplinary and involves electrophysiology and imaging (including in vivo), opto- and chemogenetic approaches, molecular-biology and in vivo behavioural studies. Therefore experience in at least some of these methods is essential; background in peripheral pain pathways is also welcomed. A PhD (or close to completion) in neuroscience, physiology or pharmacology (or equivalent) and lab experience with the ability to use sophisticated equipment.
