How will the next REF impact you and your research?

  • Join us for this online discussion with experts from Research Consulting and researchers to find out more about the proposed reforms to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and how they will affect you.
  • Help The Society enhance the recognition of physiology and interdisciplinary research in the next REF.

UK funding agencies published the REF 2028 Initial Decisions outlining proposed reforms for the 2028 REF this summer and is currently consulting on these planned changes. The Physiological Society is responding to the consultation and wants to hear the views of the physiology community.

In 2021, The Society released a report The Future of Interdisciplinary Research Beyond REF 2021 with recommendations on how REF can support interdisciplinary research. This summer we commissioned a review to assess the extent to which the initial decisions about REF 2028 reflect these recommendations.

At this online discussion we will share the findings of this review and discuss how REF2028 can best reflect and reward high-quality research and impact wherever it occurs.
