This webinar is part of a series and the next ones are Building successful partnerships between research and industry and Using Online Tools to Identify New Research Opportunities.

Researchers are increasingly expected to demonstrate how they have translated research into meaningful impacts in people’s lives. This can be through activities such as commercialisation, public engagement, partnerships with other organisations, or training.

Funding organisations and institutions are placing greater importance on these activities, as seen in Research Excellence Framework (REF) impact statements and the new Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF). But how can effective engagement beyond the lab create impact for your research, teaching, and professional development?

This session will showcase how you can maximise the impact of your research outside of the lab and explore how the skills and experience of physiologists can be used in a variety of communities and sectors. The benefits for career progression, such as providing new research insights, developing new skills and expanding your networks, will also be discussed.

Learning outcomes:

  • Learn how to maximise the benefits that come from engagement beyond the lab
  • Explore the variety of activities available to help maximise the impact of your research
  • Understand how your research could be matched with areas of research translation
