The Physiological Society has made research articles in our scientific journals that are relevant to COVID-19 freely accessible.
COVID-19, a respiratory illness caused by a novel strain of coronavirus, was originally detected in Wuhan, China and has since become a global pandemic. We have made all research in The Journal of Physiology and Experimental Physiology that may assist researchers, clinicians or policymakers in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of COVID-19, free to access. These papers particularly focus on airway epithelial function and lung inflammation.
This move is in response to a call issued by governments across the world to make research related to COVID-19 freely available.
Our publisher Wiley has already made more than 5,000 COVID-19-related articles freely available. Last month, Wiley joined Wellcome Trust in the commitment of ensuring rapid access to COVID-19 research. Papers made freely available from our journals strengthen these efforts.
We will continue making new papers that are relevant to COVID-19, freely available as they are published. Such research will be added to Wiley’s collection, and also to a virtual issue online that specifically contains relevant research from The Physiological Society’s journals.
Bridget Lumb, President of The Physiological Society said:
“In this time of crisis, it is more important than ever to come together as a scientific community as we work to tackle this pandemic.“
