We are excited to announce that Experimental Physiology has moved to online-only publication, with the print product discontinued in favour of a totally digital format.
Since Experimental Physiology’s launch in 1908, journal publishing has evolved. In recent years, the internet has revolutionised the way in which information can be accessed and shared.
Experimental Physiology is committed to maximising the impact of its authors’ high-quality research and to enhance communication to readers. Online publication offers opportunities for this through features that print cannot provide.
The high editorial standards established in the old print edition are maintained in the new online-only version. In addition, content is searchable and can be viewed in a variety of useful ways, such as by theme, as well as read as a monthly issue. Articles can also be downloaded as a PDF and printed out.
Readers accessing the journal on smartphones or tablets will automatically open a streamlined ‘mobile optimised’ version of the journal pages to allow ease of reading on smaller screens, with an app to follow in the near future.
The core aims of Experimental Physiology remain unchanged; namely a commitment to publishing high-quality, original, physiological research that gives novel insights into fundamental homeostatic and adaptive responses in health and to furthering our knowledge of the pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases that can be understood only in the integrative setting of the whole organism.
A diverse and significant range of functionality and features now offered with online publication can be discovered in a podcast with Editor-in-Chief Paul McLoughlin and the full editorial.
