Webinar series

Our webinar series are designed to complement our in-person meetings and conferences, which is particularly important and beneficial in today’s increasingly hybrid and globally connected scientific and professional landscape. We particularly welcome applications from those who aim to create and build a community of like-minded researchers.

The call for webinars is open and closes on 1 March 2026

What is on offer?

These webinars offer you the opportunity to:

  • Spotlight up-and-coming areas of research to build communities and forge collaborations.
  • Extend the reach beyond in-person meeting topics and engage people who couldn’t attend physically to reach a worldwide audience.
  • Build a buzz for upcoming meetings, offering a preview or themed discussions.
  • Dive deeper into topics that had traction at meetings to share findings, recaps, or workshop outcomes.
  • Keep the conversation alive with attendees at in-person meetings and connect existing and new audiences.
  • Be more accessible and focused, as well as less intimidating for audiences, to meet the needs of different learning and engagement styles.

Who can apply?

Proposals for webinar series are open to all physiologists, but at least one of the Webinar Organisers should be a member of The Physiological Society in at least their second year of membership.

What is available?

Logistical support for organising a webinar series, including use of Society’s Zoom platform

How do I apply?

When the call is open, applicants will need to download, complete and return a proposal. Informal enquires can be sent to events@physoc.org.

When can I apply?

The call for webinars closes on 1 March 2026

Applications for Webinar Series are assessed twice a year by the Scientific Conferences Committee. Deadlines for submitting proposals are 01 March and 01 September each year.

Acceptance by the Scientific Conferences Committee of a Webinar Series proposal means that the submitter (Webinar Series Organisers) is responsible for the content of the webinar series.  The Physiological Society Events Team is responsible for the logistics, operations and management of The Society’s Zoom platform. Webinar Series Organisers are expected to liaise very closely with the Events Team to ensure the success of the event. The Society provides full secretariat support once the proposal is accepted.

It is expected that the Webinar Series Organisers will chair the Zoom meeting for the duration. The Events Team will be the Zoom hosts with the webinar chair(s) having co-host status.

There is no funding associated with this scheme and webinars will be free to attend for all whether they are members of The Society or not.

This scheme is available to individuals who may also partner with other cognate societies and/or commercial organisations. For commercial partners, a sponsor fee will apply to ensure that the involvement and participation is open and transparent.

These are Society-owned and marketed events. Other sponsors will be termed as “in association with” or “supported by” and will only have influence over the programme with prior approval of the Events Team and/or Webinar Series organisers.

All applications will be reviewed and selected on a competitive basis by members of the Scientific Conferences Committee and/or selected external reviewers. If awarded, the series will be agreed in principle, and formal acceptance will be agreed following a meeting with The Society Events Team where the roles and responsibilities will be discussed.

Our journals may invite special issue proposals or reviews at their discretion.

The Society is committed to increasing equality and diversity in the physiological sciences. Our work in this area permeates throughout all of our activities, organisers will be asked to commit to an aspirational target of 50% female representation of speakers, with a compulsory minimum of 33%.
