Scientific Outreach and Content Manager

About the role

Easy Electrophysiology is a software company that develops analysis tools for patch-clamp electrophysiology. We are looking for a Scientific Outreach and Content Manager to help develop our online presence, social media, and scientific communications.

The role is flexible, fully remote, freelance, and open to applicants worldwide. It is for 12 hours per month (around 3 hours per week) and is paid at £40 (approximately $54) per hour. The successful applicant will help engage with the scientific community through social media, create scientific content, and increase awareness and adoption of Easy Electrophysiology.

The high-level aims are to strengthen engagement with existing users and the wider patch-clamp community, and to promote adoption of Easy Electrophysiology. The successful candidate will help shape the strategy for achieving these aims. Typical activities may include:

– Planning and writing content for Easy Electrophysiology’s social media channels. For example:
– Identifying interesting papers that have used Easy Electrophysiology and producing short, accessible summaries of them.
– Creating short videos demonstrating key features of the software.
– Communicating updates, new software features, and releases to existing users by email.
– Writing or contributing educational content related to patch-clamp experiments and analysis.
– Developing user or laboratory case studies.
Identifying opportunities to introduce Easy Electrophysiology to researchers, for example by supporting existing workshops or identifying opportunities for new workshops.
– Helping to grow adoption of the software through increased social media reach and small promotional or advertising campaigns.

Experience and Skills

The successful applicant will have practical experience conducting patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments and analyzing the resulting data. The role would particularly suit a neuroscience or biology researcher with an interest in scientific communication, outreach, and/or marketing.

Easy Electrophysiology places a strong emphasis on scientific accuracy, collaboration, and the value of review. The successful applicant should therefore be comfortable having planned content reviewed for scientific accuracy, as well as reviewing content produced by others.

Essential requirements:

– Working towards, or already holding, a Master’s or PhD in neuroscience or a related discipline.
– Practical experience conducting and analyzing patch-clamp electrophysiology experiments.
– Strong written communication skills and a high standard of written English.
-Ability to work independently.

Desirable requirements:
– An active social media presence engaging with the scientific community.
– Experience in scientific communication, including producing educational or other scientific content.

Role details

The role is fully remote and freelance, for 12 hours per month at a rate of £40 per hour. Applications will close Monday 5th October 2026. The role will initially run for three months, with the intention of continuing beyond this by mutual agreement. Payment will be made monthly by invoice.
