The Society is delighted to announce its support for a special symposium celebrating 60 years since the publication of the Hodgkin–Huxley model of the action potential.
2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the publication of Hodgkin and Huxley’s model of the action potential. This publication, and the mathematical model it describes, is at the core of our modern understanding of how the action potential is generated. The model has had profound effects on many fields of biological science, in particular on the computational studies of neuronal function.
To celebrate the occasion, a congress is being organised at Trinity College, Cambridge – the institution where the original research was conducted – by James M. Bower (University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio), Idan Segev (Hebrew University), Michael Häusser (University College London) and Simon O’Connor (Local Organizer) it will take place on 12-13 July 2012.
The meeting will be organised around several specific topics, which can be found here.
If you would like to be considered as a speaker for one of the subject areas listed, or would like to register for updates on the event, please contact Simon O Connor.
