In December 2013 The Society is seeking to pilot running a joint Themed Meeting of two Themes in the same venue, over the same dates. This meeting will share integrated symposia, poster sessions, networking opportunities and social events. The main aim will be to establish a forum to encourage and foster the cross-fertilisation of the two groups.
The Epithelia & Membrane Transport and Vascular & Smooth Muscle Physiology Themed Leads are seeking suggestions for proposals that would cross-cut both Themes, perhaps focusing on a particular disease mechanism that has broad scope to encompass aspects of both themes. As such two organisers are required representing both themes. We are looking for a maximum of eight EM related speakers and eight VS related speakers. In addition, the names of two plenary speakers are sought, one in each theme. We would be grateful if you would bear in mind both the geographic spread and gender balance of speakers. The meeting will be two and a half to three days in duration.
Your main role as organisers is to develop an internationally appealing scientific programme (including the selection of oral communications from the submitted abstracts). We ask that you consider clinical aspects of the topic when suggesting speakers. In addition, your assistance in marketing the meeting to as wide an audience as possible will be invaluable.
In return, The Society’s Events Team will provide a comprehensive operational support service, including speaker invitations, budgeting, venue selection and negotiations and contractual work (including catering and any social programmes), abstract submission, programme production, registration and the reimbursement of expenses.
This is a competitive process and applications will be reviewed by the theme leads, external referees and considered by the Meetings Committee.
Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact either the relevant theme leads Mike Gray (EM) or Richard Siow (VS) the Meetings Secretary, David Wyllie or the Director, Events and Marketing, Nick Boross-Toby.
Applications should be completed online by 31 May 2012.
