Physiological Reports’ UK launch took place today at the IUPS Congress in Birmingham with an impassioned call for contributions.
The new open-access journal, jointly owned by the Physiological Society and the American Physiological Society (APS), has made ‘meteoric’ progress. The journal launched in the spring with an offer to waive the publication fee on the first 100 papers accepted. More than 123 submissions came in, 50 of which have been accepted. But with 50 freebies still to go, Editor-in-Chief, Sue Wray, told IUPS delegates that they must grasp the opportunity.
She said: “What do we want? Your papers! When do we want them? Now!”
APS Chief Executive, Marty Frank, backed up Sue’s call, saying: “Wouldn’t you rather submit your papers to a physiology venue, than to a general, cross-disciplinary venue?!”
