Acidosis: Its Part in Ischaemic Heart Disease – Clive Orchard (p.14)

When a region of the heart is deprived of its blood supply, as in ischaemic heart disease, a number of important changes occur within the ischaemic region. One of the most pronounced of these changes is a decrease of pH which occurs as a result of the accumulation of CO2 and of lactic acid (produced by anaerobic glycolysis).
