Dynamics of the Swimming Lamprey – TL Williams, NA Curtin ,and JC Carling (p.21)

Most fish swim by passing waves of lateral bending along the body from the head toward the tail. Such waves are obvious to the eye in anguilliform swimmers, such as the eel and lamprey, in which nearly the entire body participates in the passage of the wave (See Fig 1).
