This workshop is intended for physiologists who want to learn the basic yet essential techniques used in molecular biology. It will also illustrate the principles and methodologies behind the manipulation of protein expression using a variety of transfection techniques.
This workshop is now fully booked.
Techniques covered will include:
- Gel electrophoresis and visualisation of DNA
- Restriction enzyme digest, DNA fragment size estimation and mapping
- Bacterial transformation
- Mini‐prep (DNA extraction)
- RNA isolation and cDNA reverse transcription
- PCR (polymerase chain reaction)
- Transfection
- siRNA knock‐down
- EGFP analysis
- Western blot
- Protein quantification
30 places are available for this workshop, which will be offered to registrants free of charge. Priority will be given to members of The Physiological Society. Attendees are expected to organise and fund their own accommodation.
Workshop fully booked.
