Professor Brendan Cooper

Academy of Healthcare Sciences – Co-Chair

Brendan leads the 28-strong lung function diagnostic and therapeutic team at University Hospitals Birmingham and has significant research interests. He is well known in the Healthcare Science community as the long-standing Chair and subsequent President of the Association for Respiratory Technology & Physiology (ARTP). He also has strong links with the diagnostic and life sciences industry and has provided advice on device development and clinical trials. The AHCS President is the chief professional representative of the Academy, liaising with constituents and then articulating the views of the profession to government, the health & care system and other stakeholders.  The President also chairs the Professional Council of the Academy and represents the Academy at external events. The President serves a two-year term.
