On 26 November, The Society will complete the launch of the new grants programme, including opening applications for two new Fellowship awards.
We are seeking Fellow Members with relevant expertise to form a Fellowship Decision Panel for our first funding round, which will be open from 26 November 2021 until 1 March 2022.
Individuals appointed to the panel will play a key role in ensuring the success of The Society’s new schemes and fair and appropriate awarding of our first cohort of Fellowship awardees.
We are looking to recruit 9 panellists in total: three to sit within each of the following remits: scientific research, outreach and/or public understanding of physiology and physiology education.
Panellists will be responsible for conducting an initial triage of Accelerator and Momentum Fellowship applications and helping with the identification of suitable peer reviewers.
The initial triage will take place during the first two weeks of March 2022 and applicants must therefore be available during this time.
Panellists will also be required to travel to The Society’s offices in London for a day of interviews, during the last 2 weeks of April (date to be confirmed) to select the Fellowship awardees. The Society will cover the cost of a dinner for all panellists and an overnight stay in London.
To apply to be part of our Fellowship Decision Panel, please provide the following information: a CV, a publication list, the category you wish to be a panellist for (scientific research, outreach and/or public understanding of physiology or physiological education) and a short statement outlining your relevant experience (e.g. grant review, interviewing prospective grant holders etc.) and send to Julia Attias on jattias@physoc.org by Sunday 19 December 2021.
The Physiological Society is committed to the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion, and thereby welcomes applications from individuals of all backgrounds.
We will also be appointing an early career member to sit within each panel, in a shadowing role. More details will be available in due course.
