This deadline has been extended to 12 December.
The Editor fulfils an important role, in particular contributing scientific and academic expertise to the publication of Physiology News (PN), The Society’s quarterly magazine. As well as publishing feature articles, PN plays a crucial part in communicating and reporting The Society’s programme of activities, which range from Society events to parliamentary affairs. Its readership encompasses The Society’s membership, other bioscience and biomedicine scientists and clinicians, undergraduate students, school teachers, industrial and commercial audiences, and national science policy opinion-formers.
PN underwent a major design refresh just over two years ago. The present Editor has developed the magazine further, building on these changes. In particular, there is much better coordination between PN’s content and The Society’s other communications with members through social media, the website and the monthly e- newsletter. According to membership surveys, PN is a valued member benefit.
There are further opportunities to develop PN and its role by engaging actively with sub-groups within the Society such as Theme Leads and local Society Representatives.
Interested applicants are asked to send a cover letter outlining any relevant experience and vision for the Magazine to the Director of Publications, Simon Rallison at srallison@physoc.org who may also be contacted for an informal discussion about the role on 0207 269 5729.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 12 Noon on Friday 12 December 2014.
