Professor Mike Shipston presented with Society dog

13 May 2022

At our recent Society Roadshow event in Edinburgh, Professor Mike Shipston was presented with a Society dog to thank him for his services to The Society, in particular during the time that he served as Chair of Publications Committee from 2010-2014.

The dog is a mascot adopted by The Society in 1942 when it was donated to The Society by Sir Henry Dale, who was given the statue by the eminent British physiologist Charles Scott Sherrington. Unfortunately the original statue was stolen in Bristol in 1994, however The Society still give our replicas of the dog to retiring officers and other distinguished Members of The Society. You can read more about the history of the Society dog here.
