Mike is the Dean of Biomedical Sciences in the Edinburgh Medical School. His core teaching spans the undergraduate Biomedical Sciences and Medical Sciences curricula with a focus on Physiology and postgraduate teaching in cognate MSc taught and research programmes.

Mike’s current research is particularly interested in posttranscriptional and posttranslational mechanisms of ion channel regulation and their role in the dynamic control of cellular excitability and systems level function in health and disease.
