The Digital Communications Manager plans, coordinates and executes The Society’s digital communications output to deliver The Society’s strategic objectives. They design content primarily for our digital channels, and produce video, audio and image content for our digital channels.

As a learned society of over 4,000 Members, we promote physiology and support those working in the field by organising world-class scientific meetings, offering grants for research, collaboration and international travel, and by publishing the latest developments in our leading scientific journals, The Journal of Physiology, Experimental Physiology and Physiological Reports.
The position
We are looking for a maternity cover for our Digital Communications Manager. The Digital Communications Manager develops coordinated digital activity across The Society to promote our strategic objectives.
The main areas of responsibility are:
- Strategic improvement: innovative, sector-leading digital communications
Ensure our digital communications meet the needs of our target audiences and regularly review our communications strategy to enable us to increase our reach and impact.
- Communications campaigns: Digital content development and delivery
Plan, develop and delivery innovative, timely, accurate and high quality content to across all our digital communications platforms
- Evaluate
Monitor performance across digital channels and adapt plans and content as required.
- Line management
Responsibility for line management of the Digital Communications Officer and ensuring they deliver agreed objectives for website maintenance, social media management and email distribution.
The Digital Communications Manager requires a minimum of three years’ experience in media and communications, strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. They need to enjoy managing communication campaigns and an ability to adapt to different audiences.
The position is a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave. It is based at our head office in Farringdon, London but currently working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
