The Society is seeking candidates to get involved in a number of different areas, listed below. Being a member of any Society committee or group provides you with an insight into how The Society works and an opportunity to influence activities and to help deliver the strategy. - The Conferences Committee is seeking a member who specialises in metabolic physiology. This committee is responsible for overseeing the delivery of The Society’s strategic priority on advancing physiology through our meetings: excellent science, wide and active participation, lasting impact. The goal of the Conferences strand of the strategy is to provide opportunities for researchers to present new work and get feedback from their peers; to make connections with other scientists; to learn about new research, techniques and ideas and to catch up with friends and colleagues.
- Education, Public Engagement and Policy Committee (EPEP) is seeking a member with interest in policy and experience related to research funding. The EPEP Committee is responsible for overseeing the delivery of The Society’s strategic priority on Engagement – to Engage for success – improving our two-way commitment and communication to increase recognition of the importance of physiology. The goal of the Engagement strand of the strategy is to increase awareness of physiology in order to strengthen the pipeline of physiologists across the discipline.
- Physiology News (PN) is seeking members for its Editorial Board. PN is an integral element of communication at The Society and this position is an exciting opportunity to work with the Editorial Board to shape the direction of the magazine and develop engaging, high quality content.
- History and Archives Group is seeking a new member with interest in communication the history of The Society and of physiology. As The Society works towards its 150th Anniversary, we are looking for individuals to help us showcase The Society’s rich history at the forefront of the life sciences. Join the History & Archives Group to help shape the activities leading up to this important milestone. The History and Archives Group promotes the appreciation and understanding of the history of The Society and of physiological science. It is also responsible for the maintenance of The Society’s historical records and overseeing the regular accrual of important records.
